On this day in live music history: Grateful Dead - Uncle John’s Band (12-23-70)
Hot Tuna and the New Riders of the Purple Sage also played Winterland on this special night two days before Christmas 41 years ago. Must have been quite the night for the lucky few in attendance. At the end of the tune—which, incidentally, was still a relatively new song at this time— Phil says “Merry Christmas” and Jerry thanks the crowd for helping to bail out “The Bear”.
Not this day, anymore, but a good day nonetheless.
